If infertility is becoming more common, then, scientifically, is the human race doomed?

infertility
White T asked:

Infertility rates are going up each year.

What if those rates continued to go up each year?

Do you think that maybe hundreds of years from now, humans will be born inferile?

Possibly. But then there is always science.. I doubt we are doomed.

Reminds me of a movie of which the title currently escapes me. Anyways, yes, the human race is doomed if it is scientific fact that the infertility rate goes up every year. I doubt that humans will be born infertile, because our DNA has been the same for the past hundreds of thousands of years and probably won’t change anytime soon. Even if that does happen, I bet we will have cloning technologies to “grow” new children.

This would be true if the population rate was also not increasing. The increase in population gives rise to pollutants and a whole mess of other problems that contribute to the infertility rate.
We will destroy the planet way before there is nobody around to populate it.

Possible with all the pollutants in our environment and all the chemicals we encounter in utero and throughout life. It doesn’t seem to be getting any better out there so a grim outlook indeed.

Interesting theory, and it is definitely possible! Maybe the end of the world won’t be as dramatic as we thought, afterall? ;)

Much of the problem is due to pollution, and yes infertility has plummeted especially in the West. However population increase is still high enough to ensure survival, at least for another millennium or so. I believe its not completely down to nature, if we change the air from a noxuous dump fertility rates will begin to recover.

If things become too bad they may need to stock up on eggs and ***** capable of conception and freeze them perhaps for centuries so the future generations can use them to try and create a solution.
